Welcome to the Office of Academic Planning and Institutional Research. We are committed to serving the UCI community in its efforts to continue delivering on our promise to provide students with the high-quality educational experience for which the university is well known and highly ranked.
The Division of Academic Planning and the Division of Institutional Research is in the process of merging under the guidance of Acting Vice Provost Val Jenness. Both offices are dedicated to furthering the strategic goals and research mission of the university.
The Division of Academic Planning coordinates approval of new degree programs, academic units, and schools; leads the Academic Planning Group; ensures ongoing implementation and assessment of our strategic plan; manages all aspects of institutional accreditation, and serves as an institutional “incubator” to launch newly developed programs such as UCI’s Academic Initiatives and others.
The Division of Institutional Research collects, analyzes, and interprets a wide variety of data about the university and its external environment for the purposes of assessing institutional outcomes, measuring institutional performance against strategic planning goals, comparative analysis with peer institutions, and reporting to campus constituencies and external agencies. Together, Academic Planning and Institutional Research will strengthen the alignment of data, analysis, and decision support with broad academic and strategic planning.
