Academic Planning Outlook & Program Planning
The Office of Academic Planning maintains UCI’s Five-Year Planning Perspectives – a catalogue of the university’s five-year outlook for changes to academic programs and academic units, such as departments and schools.

PROGRAM PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Adding or changing degree programs or academic units involves the following process.
- See cover sheet and instructions for proposing a new degree or unit, or transferring, consolidating, or disestablishing a degree program or academic unit.
- Review a sample two-page summary.
- Prepare a two-page summary of the proposed action.
- Submit the summary to acadplan@uci.edu with a cc: to tmolidor@uci.edu.
Additional Requirements
The Graduate Division's Academic Program Development site includes policies and detailed procedures for proposing actions related to academic programs and academic units.
New graduate degree program proposals require a comprehensive diversity plan. The Graduate Council website requires the Office of Inclusive Excellence endorsement of diversity plans before program proposals are submitted for review.
